Whether your clients seek to cover one team, a whole league, or even an association, our Amateur Sports program can be tailored to meet their needs. The program covers youth and adult teams and leagues, as well as sports camps and clinics. The program can cover virtually all sports, with just a few exclusions. Excluded classes are tackle football, rugby, extreme sports (skate or snow boarding, mountain or BMX biking, etc.). Markel’s Accident & Health division has been writing this coverage since 1995. This program is available in all states except Hawaii.
Primary coverages offered are general liability and accident. The GL coverage protects owners, directors, staff, and volunteers against claims of alleged negligence. Coverage also includes participant liability. GL limits are $1 million per occurrence/$3 million aggregate, with a minimum premium of $750 ($500 for sports camps). Accident coverage pays medical expenses, regardless of fault, on an excess basis. It includes coverage for deductibles and co-pays under primary coverage, or if the insured has no other coverage. Expenses are paid in full up to the policy limit. We offer limits from $10,000 to $500,000, with various deductible options. Minimum premium is $350.
